Work Woe and Nights Out
Am getting very pissed of with the attitude of certain managers at work, it seems that they are now trying to flex their authority (think Cartman in uniform - respec ma authoritoir!) and are threatening a ban on internet and conversation. I think they see themselves as the headmaster of a class of kids. Suspect the Express and Echo will be seeing an increase in sales on Wednesdays (when they run the jobs available page). Certainly I'm redoing my CV.
Am also cursing my lack of money. Long Tall Sally have a gorgeous coat with a stunning pair of boots to match in their window at the moment. Alas I don't have a spare £200 to get them *crys*
I've had a couple of interesting nights out, the Burlesque has moved to a new venue which I can't say I'm very keen on. It's a Working Men’s Club and it still allows members free entry without tickets (while it's ticket only for the Burlesque crowd), certainly there were tensions between the locals and the fabulous burlesque guests and I got some stick for looking like an over pinstriped Boy George (I decided to try ‘Glamorous Boi Mode’ instead of the usual dragdiva) - some of the girls got unwanted attention too. Which is a shame because K&Q put on a great show.
On Friday I had a great night out at the Cavern's Alternative 80s night. Though the fact it was a great night was down to the company rather then the night. The DJ was appalling, I was expecting some obscure stuff, but not as much as was played. I wouldn't have minded if they also played some of the bands listed on the posters/online adverts. Also the DJ would leave the booth to chat at the bar, and not return until the PA went silent (very unprofessional), Still got a couple of dances to some Spanadu Ballet & Smiths and the conversation with good friends more then made up for the poor entertainment on offer.

New Buy: Going Pointy
So far I’ve not been a big fan of stiletto heels, my previous pairs have tended to leave me unable to walk more then a few yards. But I was seduced by this pair that were on sale for £20 from Discount Shoe Store (Barratts in other words). They have a fold over cuff with a zip up the back and a nice stud detail on the cuffs.
Surprisingly they are relatively comfortable, certainly no worse then some of my platform pairs. I wore them as knee highs with the cuff folded down to the local Burlesque night (sorry didn’t get any outfit pictures) and while I couldn’t walk any real distance in them yet I was certainly able to dance a bit. Think I’ll have to practice a bit more, but I think I might have caught a stiletto bug!

Outfit: Overexposed in the rain
Decided to experiment with the camera, think I still need a bit more practice as most shots were over or under exposed (joys of self timer when you are trying to keep the camera dry as well) but quite liked how this one came out. The long top is from New Look, Wet Look Leggings are from Topshop, Biker Boots are Rocket Dog, Hoodie is Primani and brolly is Next.

Outfit: Lurgied at home.
Forgive the face cropping – I wasn’t in the mood to show off my sore nose and the less said about the cough the better. Anyway I was wrapped up warm and snug…
- Purple Jumper from Primark
- Black top (underneath) from Primark
- Black Leggings from New Look
- OTK Boots from Next
Oh and I’m renaming the “Today I am Wearing…” feature to “Outfit” as I don’t always update the blog on the same day (it is rather awkward for evenings out!)

Today I am Wearing: NYE
This is an automatic post as I’ll be out partying when it goes live. Yes its lazy but I’d rather be celebrating with my friends then sat at home waiting to press enter. *winks*
So yes, the infamous NYE outfit is…
- Customised White top with ‘R’ logo
- Tiny Miniskirt
- Black Corset
- PVC Thigh high boots
- PVC Opera Gloves
- Red Wig
Yep I’m doing Jessie from Pokémon’s Team Rocket, its a very geeky party with a computer game theme.
Anyway whatever you are doing I hope you have a good evening and roll on 2010!

New Buy: Purple Next Boots
I was in need of some more daytime boots and decided to indulge my love of purple by getting these boots from Next. While Next do have a reputation for being very conservative and vanilla, they also make their boots in girlyboi friendly sizes! Consequentially these boots are very very comfortable. They have a foldable cuff so can be worn with the cuff down for pirate style. Alternatively with the cuff up they look equally good as an on-the-knee style. They look very good with black skinny jeans and the jumper I bought to match. More on that later…

Better then expected
Well the only comments I’ve had from people at work have been positive, wanting to know what the girl Facebook account was, and complimenting on the pictures that were posted. So as far as I know, all is good!
The new boots arrived last Monday (well OK I did include them in the last vlog) – they are fabulous! I now just have to solve my clash of the purples!

Ooh Interesting Boots
from http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fashion/fashionnews/5788076/Trend-alert-Over-the-knee-boots.htmlTrend alert: Over-the-knee boots
Get ready for the ‘thigh-grazers’: From catwalk to high street, over-the-knee styles will be everywhere next season.
By Olivia Bergin
![]()
As seen on actress Rachel Weisz in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar, who is pictured reclining in a studded thigh-high pair by Alexander McQueen, “thigh-highs” - or “cuissardes”, as they have been dubbed – are the shoes for next season.
They were the stars of the autumn/winter catwalk shows in Milan, New York, London and Paris, and the high street has been quick to get in step.
Madonna, of course, had to be first and showed off her over-the-knee Louis Vuitton boots at the Costume Institute Gala, back in May. And trendsetter Kate Moss has been a faithful cuissardes crusader for several years.
It-girls Alice Dellal and Daisy Lowe are fans, while R'n'B star Rihanna wears hers on and offstage, and teenage sensation Miley Cyrus recently teamed her black leather pair with short-shorts and a fringed tunic top.
From the flat, Wellington boot-esque styles from Prada, to Vuitton's decadent gold leather and brocade platforms, the over-the-knee is next season's It-boot.
They were sleek and simple at Paul & Joe; eye-catchingly bright at Vivienne Westwood; and roomy enough to catch a few raindrops in at Peter Pilotto.
As always, the high street has quickly caught on to the shape of things to come and created an extensive selection of affordable versions. While the high-heeled, super-tight styles scream “Look how sexy I am!”, soft suede and nubuck boots in tones of grey are more discreet options. The flat interpretations are also great alternatives to the over-the-knee trend as they are more demure in design and hugely practical.

Recent Socialness
The night was a little marred by some hassle from some neanderthals in the main pub. Asking "Are you a bloke?" is not big or clever... Lucky our taxi arrived at that moment, so we managed to quickly escape.
I'm guessing by the lack of comments at work over that Facebook status (see yesterday's post) that no-one is really surprised. I'm not quite confident enough to wear a skirt to work though ;)
And today boi me has been swimming in the sea at Dawlish (I'm not at the stage of being able of swim girled and probably won't be without drastic things like breast implants or permahair). I've not swum for about 10 years so I was a bit faltery and the water was freezing! Though strangely it was warmer further out. We then walked along the sea wall to Dawlish Warren just in time for the train back home.
I've also ordered myself some rather nice Purple Boots from Next - hopefully they will be here on Tuesday
PS: I've changed the template I use for the site so some things may appear broken - I will eventually go back and debug the older posts...

New Buy: Pixie Boots
Aren't these cute! I bought these very cheaply from Barratts, so not sure how long they will last. If you haddn't guessed, they are intended for daytime wear around town. The tiny heel should mean my feet don't hurt until a couple of miles in (as opposed to a few yards). I'll probably be wearing them out and about tomorrow. No work means very little boi mode! (it would be no boi but I have something I need to sort out that will require a brief boi trip to the parking people which I only found about when I got home from work last night).

A line up

My daytime boot collection, expect to see more of these in the near future.
I've also been having a massive tidy up at home. With my strange work patterns I usually come home and slump on the sofa and housework tends to be low on the priorities, there are reasons for my sudden motivation, but for now I'm keeping stum

New Year shopping - part 2
In less good news, the purple dress is in no way shape or form a 14, I've burst a seam... Oh well - it was only about £5 and its not worth fighting when it's ebay (who don't do customer service). I think I'll stick to actual shops more, at least I can make an educated guess!
Anyway I have been out en femme today, though walking 3 miles in the new boots was probably not the best idea I've had. I also wore jeans, a cape coat with three quarter sleaves, full leather opera gloves underneath, the now torn purple dress. My make up could have been better but I think the result was quite good!
The light was really starting to fade by that point so I'm afraid that's the only photo. My confidence has certainly grown. Next time it will have to be a full shopping trip - I'd neglected to take money today, though I did have enough to get some tissues in the Co-Op on the Quay - couldn't have queued 6 months ago!
Now I think I'll have a bath to rest my feet - its back to work tomorrow so this will probably be the last glam for a week or so.

The Geek vs The Glamour
I'd been looking at a small camcorder for doing the VLogs, nothing too fancy but something with a rotatable screen (so I'm not tied to the mirror and can aim properly when outside) and had settled on a £120 Toshiba model.
The other option was boots, I'd seen a rather nice pair of over the knee boots in the Pleaser range for about £80, but then came emails like this.
Unless you have been living in the Amazon jungle for the last year you couldn't help but notice that the £ has been taking a severe battering by the $ and Euro. We have swallowed the losses for months hoping that the £ would go up (which it hasn't). We cannot afford take the 25% mark-down on the currency any longer so, from midnight Sunday (Monday morning) the prices will have to rise by 25% on, Demonia, Pleaser & Devious footwear and Laughing Vampire clothing.
So most of the bootsellers are raising their prices, oh well, boots will have to wait
So camcorder it is, only Amazon are out of stock and estimated delivery is somewhere between mid December and mid January - still Me in High Definition might be worth it ;)

Going over the Knee
I found this while having a nose around flickr for daytime outfit ideas and I must say I am very much liking those boots. Apparently over the knee boots are in fashion (there is a gorgeous pair in Faith at the moment that I can't afford - and they have sold out of my size which doesn't help!). So it raises the thought of me digging out my leather thigh highs from Penangalan. Given that I'm becoming more used to heels it is very tempting. Hopefully they will be more successful this time round, the first time I wore them I made it about 200 yards!I will of course let you know how this turns out.

New Buy: Next Boots
OK these aren't that new - I've had them a month or so now and they are certainly one of my current favourites. They came from Next, so are expensive by my standards but they are one of the few non-fetish retailers that do footwear in larger sizes. They are very soft leather with a chunky heel (I'm not steady in stilettos), zip up the inside and have a very cute buckle detail. I tend to wear them over trousers as per the current fashion (because its a fashion I approve of)
Its this pear that I've been wearing out of late, much like my Demonia Gothikas they are proving suitable for all day wear without too much discomfort.
