Thinking of Someone

My fabulous friend S went of to university yesterday. So in honour of the occasion I’m posting something that I recently added to the Hello Kitty look book. It’s an idea for the Goth festivals with S as the lady and me as the glamorous boi. I think we’d cause quite a stir!

Inspiration: Some Racier Looks

As I’ve been feeling a lot more confident of late I’m tempted to try a couple of racier looks for a couple of the racier clubs in the area. I’ll expand more on that soon.

I’m not keen on the makeup in this one but the outfit is pretty good.

A similar theme, it wasn’t that long ago that I was too shy to show my legs off like this . Though I don’t think I’ll be quite as draggy as Collogen Girl!

This is something I’m considering for a more dramatic daytime look. Ironically this photo is lifted from a show that tries to discourage such over the top looks. I don’t think I’m meant to be taking inspiration!

Still confidence is good!

Could be an interesting read

I must say that RuPaul's new book Workin' It!: Rupaul's Guide to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Style looks rather interesting... definitely one that I'm going to have to acquire when I get the chance. I was rather addicted to the first series of Drag Race and was especially inspired by the divine Nina Flowers and am pleased to see that she is contributing.

I'll have to do a review when I get my copy.

HKPOP: More TradGoth Musings

3628144839_c0e0b99bd9_b I’m contemplating the development of a few Trad Goth looks with an eye on this year’s festivals. This is probably the sort of look I’d go for. I’m not one for the ultra Victoriana (as well as issues for the girlyboi created by Little Britain) but in small doses it does look good. Mind you, I still need to decide which of the fests I’m going to!

Inspiration: COTTDSWHC

This girl has a very cool style, definitely could make some of her looks work with an extra dose of dark style.

HKBOP: A Tradgoth look

3595135218_a72cfd3456_bI found this on Flickr when looking at pictures from this year’s Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig, which I couldn’t attend due to a lack of money (or indeed desire to drive single handed from Devon again) and thought it would be a good look for festival daytimes. I think it rather fits in with my usual daytime aesthetic but cranks up the goth level a few notches. It should be relatively comfortable too, good for the steep slopes of Whitby or the heat of central Germany in the summer. Might be good for going out closer to home as well.

HKBOP: An intro

DSCN1561When browsing sites like Flickr, I’ll sometimes see an outfit or a look that I really like, I will often save it to print out and place in the Hello Kitty Book of Pretty. This is a scrap book of inspirations, I won’t copy slavishly but I will try and take something and then put my own twist on it.

In future entries, I’ll be taking a few examples from the book and will tell you why I chose that image and what I might do with it. For now I thought I’d better explain before you wonder what I’m on about!

Better Start Practicing

A couple of looks I might work on emulating to some extent.
This one I could probably do to some extent, would just need a bit more confidence and an appropriate top

This one would need a lot of work on the makeup skills, but should be a good long term aim.

Daytime Lurkings

I am quite liking this as a look for daytime lurkings. In fact if you change the jeans for black and make the coat more coat and less cape then you have a good idea of what I wore into town yesterday morning.

Yep I've been out and about en femme again, after a brief hiatus where work and illness got in the way. Went quite a bit further then before, (GmapsPedometer reckons 1.5 miles or about 2km) which when combined with a twisted sock meant I had a huge and painful blister on my foot when I got back. Must. Harden. Feet. Up.

Plans for the weekend are mostly work based. I foolishly left my card in the supermarket so having cancelled that I have to live a £10 note (lucky I'd bought all the food just before I lost the card) so anything that involves spending money is obviously a no-no!

Going over the Knee

I found this while having a nose around flickr for daytime outfit ideas and I must say I am very much liking those boots. Apparently over the knee boots are in fashion (there is a gorgeous pair in Faith at the moment that I can't afford - and they have sold out of my size which doesn't help!). So it raises the thought of me digging out my leather thigh highs from Penangalan. Given that I'm becoming more used to heels it is very tempting. Hopefully they will be more successful this time round, the first time I wore them I made it about 200 yards!

I will of course let you know how this turns out.

Thoughts on makeup and hair

This is the sort of thing I'm currently aiming for with my makeup (and possibly hairstyling). Am wondering if I could style my fake hair similarly or would I need to aquire a similar weave to the Lady Erika.
